About Us

Riverview Animal Hospital was established in 1956 by O.D. Dickinson and was called Dickinson Animal Hospital.

Dr. Jim Cook graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in physiology in 1968. After serving 3 years in the U.S. Army, he entered veterinary school at MSU. Graduating in 1974, he moved to Riverview where he worked for 5 years then purchased Riverview Animal Hospital in 1979. He will be in practice 50 years in 2024. He enjoys seeing his old friends and meeting new ones and working with a fantastic team. Rosie, a Goldendoodle (the best dog ever) and Ernie, a stray cat (the best cat ever) along with his wife, Lynne, 3 children and 10 grandchildren make up his family. Golf, wildlife photography and travel keep him busy when not at work.

Dr. Hollie Rebo grew up in the UP and received her BS at NMU, attended WMU for graduate school and received her DVM from Michigan State. She was a zookeeper at Binder Park Zoo while in graduate and med school, externed at the Minnesota Zoo and spent two months in India for a large animal and wildlife Study Abroad course. Dr. Rebo has lived downriver since 2007 and LOVES cats, surgery, gardening, travel and photography (mostly of her pets, yard animals and vacation adventures.)

Dr. Josette LeBlanc worked at a veterinary practice in Chicago after graduating from veterinary school at MSU. She returned to Michigan and joined Riverview Animal Hospital in 1995. She enjoys spending time with her family, her horse, Golden Retriever and cat, gardening, and beekeeping in her free time.

Dr. Amanda Charney, grew up in Grosse lle, Michigan and received her BS and DVM from Michigan State University. Go Green! She loves all creatures but has a special place in her heart for Dachshunds with their sweet and sassy personalities. In her free time she enjoys gardening, reading historical fiction, travel and spending time with her family.

Maureen Witkowski, L.V.T. is our Practice Manager. She joined the staff in 1981.

Jan and Debbie have been our smiling and compassionate receptionists for over 30 years and have been joined by Cindy, Angie, Katlyn and Kayla.

We have 8 L.V.T.'s on staff, some of whom have been with us for more than 30 years. You may recognize the friendly faces of Angie, Linda, Jennifer, Joanne, Kristine, Kristina, and Korie. They are joined by our exceptional veterinary assistants Sarah and Kayla.
