Frequently Asked Questions

Three Orange Kittens - Riverview, MI - Riverview Animal Hospital
  • At what age should I bring my new puppy or kitten in?

We like to see puppies and kittens at 6 weeks of age to start their vaccines and check a stool sample for parasites.

  • Will my pet gain weight after being spayed or neutered?

You have to keep in mind that most pets are spayed and neutered when they are puppies or kittens. They are very active at this age and burn a lot of calories. They will naturally gain weight as they grow older and settle down. That is why it is important to weigh your pet often, measure their food out and make sure they get plenty of exercise.

  • How often should I bring my pet in for check-ups?

Because cats and dogs age so much faster than we do, we recommend they get a wellness exam twice a year. If your pet is a senior, 7 years or older, they may have to come more often, especially if they have health problems or are on medication.

  • If I have questions, is it okay to call and ask them?

Your questions are always welcome, and we will always do our best to provide you with an answer.
